I love crafts and lace. I've been shuttle tatting for over 11 yrs. I was first introduced to tatting at a miniatures show in Columbus, OH. I'm also beginning to learn bobbin lace.
I have an Etsy shop, and I just started a blog. http://tatnthreadz.blogspot.com . I'm hoping to join the 25 motif challenge when I get some time.
You are right again! I have to find the starting place and read through the pattern first - I did that in knitting and crocheting as well. Now I do that and also think-tat it through.... Very helpful!
Hi Trina,
Thanks for the encouragement and the advice. I am not at all discouraged - just a bit frustrated by the learning curve -I love the challenges! And I enjoy looking at the wonderful work that all the tatters here do! Fox
Your maple leaf is what I aspire to! I had a lot of trouble with it am struggling along with my fourth attempt! I love that thread as well.
Did you begin or end with the stem? Also, I found that I read the pattern and kept doing the thing backwards. So, in the end I just went by the picture. Any idea what I was doing wrong? Fox
You're welcome. I wish they didn't have it still copyrighted or at least I wish they would come out with a tatting patterns book of all their vintage tatting patterns. That would be the coolest. THey're not even in print anymore. As soon as it's open for public domain, I am scanning my patterns for everyone to have access to!!! LOL! :)
