Hi Patrice, I thought I would come and see your shuttle collection I didn't find pics of shuttles but I did take a look at your wonderful work. Love the bookmarks. Joy
I could not keep myself from testing a thin thread with my extra fine needle. As I did not have any 100 it had to be size 80. I am a bit surprised about how relatively well it is going so far. =) I will post the result when it is finished.
Thank you for your compliments!
Shuttle-needle comparison is hard as you say. As I learnd shuttle many years ago I have practiced it more and feel comfortable doing many nice things. Mostly I have done just ring-chain with one or two shuttles. I also learned splitring and dimplerings and now also SCMR(self-closing-mock-ring). I feel you can get a tighter tat with shuttle. Specially with the thinner threads.
BUT, since I learned needle this autumn I am beginning to like it more and more. Some things are much easier with needle, I think, like the split-ring. Other things I have still to learn. I would also say it is faster for me with the needle. Atleast for some patterns. At first I thought it very difficult to match thread and needle but now I think have got the hang of that quite nicely. :)
Well Patrice, I didn't move very far. Only to Peoria, Illinois for a little better than a year and then Milwaukee for less than a year because I didn't like it and I missed my family. I was younger than to. To make things a little more exciting, I did go to Antiqua for a month to visit a married friend that I had gone to high school with. I had my 25th birthday there to.
Hi Patrice, Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I had moved a couple of times, but I always came back home. I actually love WI a lot and don't ever want to move again. I love the different seasons good or bad. Nice to know that there is a Wisconsinite here in the world of tatters though!!!!
I found your tatting very interesting, especially the bookmark no. 2. I like the way it is finished. I finish some of my bobbin lace bookmarks off that way, but have never seen it carried through like that in tatting. Is that bookmark from a book?
Happy New Year!!!!
Hi Patrice, Your work is amazing. I'm curious about a comment you made about Amish country. What kind of tatting supplies are available in your neck of the woods? Different than the usual stuff on the net?
Thank you for asking what I’ve done this summer. I've just delivered a number of tatting to senior citizens who need this to sale for a Christmas event. I will post the photos.
About your work, I just admire it, absolutely stunning.
Hi Pat.....I have done little! VERY busy summer, more so than usual....life kept interrupting me.
Also, what little I have done in hand work is the crocheting of tiny stuffed toys.
I have to do some right hand rehab (don't ask, dull old injury, nearly well ;-). Although I have just tatted a little golden crown for my queen bee.
Tatting, knitting and stitching do not use enough of the weakened muscles, so have set those aside, for a time, and crochet some more. BUT Xmas is coming and I MUST get to the tattng. I plan to tat some beaded jewelry this year. Plus, as always, the little angels .
So for now, take care....

The top photo shows size 70/80 tatting threads that I have overdyed. I haven't yet done any using white threads as a base, but I plan to!
I am thinking of opening a Etsy shop.
