I learned to tat from my mom as a young adult and set it aside for about 10 years as I was busy with little ones. I have picked it up again in the past year and have been very excited to find a whole community on the internet!
I belong to the Great lakes Lace group but cant seem to get to the meetings much. So is life. I like the tatting group a great group of ladies. I live in Redford and for the most part the meet at Botsford Hospital by my home.
Cant locate you on plurk. Not finding you in search.
Try this link. Then if that does work it should bring up my plurk page and then just request my friendship.
Ahaa! I have been on the internet for ages it seems. From the beginning I also used scanner for pics but then I bought a digital camera and now it is very easy to transfer my photos from the memorycard in the camera to my computer as I have a built in cardreader in the laptop. I you can get your hand of that equipment it will be much easier.
I wanted to learn needle because I am a curious person I guess :-). And I have seen someone here say that it is faster than shuttle. But so far I have not tested that theory. I think it is much easier to get a tight and even finish to shuttle work. With shuttle you can use every size of thread with no problem. If you use needle you have to get a needle that is adapted to the thread. I think it is quite hard. But still I have found some patterns that work well with needle. The autumn leaf pattern done with Rubi thread and the last doily I added, also with Rubi thread. So I am still a fan of shuttle for the bookmarks but working on getting the needlework better. Cross bookmarks is what I do most as I have many friends in church and also work as deacon in a parish myself. It would be great to see more of your bookmarks!

Sherry Pence, aka LadyShuttlemaker, is hosting this TIAS. She has been posting hints on her blog every day this week to pique our curiosity and heighten anticipation. There is a link to her blog in the post I have just linked you to. It should be fun.
Hi Diane! I'm so glad you could join us. Your bookmark is very lovely and I cannot wait to see more of your work. If you are wondering what to tat next, there are many free patterns that you can access through this site. The online tatting community also offers mystery motif challenges and a new TIAS (tat it and see it) that will be starting next Tuesday. Please ask if you want more information.
Welcome to eTatters, Diane. Isn't it marvelous. When people tell me that tatting is almost a lost art, I tell them that I found it on the internet. Tatting has gotten a huge uplift from all the tatters online making contact, sharing patterns and techniques. I love it.
