Still tatting...

I've really been spending a lot of time tatting... honest! It's just that I've been working on a large (for me) project... Stella Alpina by Iris Niebach (Tatting Fantasia). I love Iris's patterns, and this one was a challenge for me! I'm very happy with the way it turned out, and believe it or not, I think I'll keep this one for myself! I tatted it in Altin Basak size 50, color #381.

I also tatted the Flower Bookmark from Transitions in Tatting from Flat to Floral by Sharon Briggs. I don… Continue

Bookmark Binge

I've been on a bookmark binge this weekend! Three teachers and an administrator are leaving our district, and I wanted to make something special for them. What better gift is there for teachers than a bookmark?

I'm in love with No. 36: Insertion from The DMC Book of Charted Tatting Designs by Kirstine Nikolajsen & Inge Lise Nikolajsen. The pattern is very easy to follow, and I can be creative at the end!

I've tried following the directions for adding pictures to my blog, but I haven… Continue

Personal Tatting Challenge No. 3 & a Bookmark

My personal tatting challenge is to tat one pattern from each of the tatting books I own. It could take a long, long time! For my 3rd challenge piece, I chose "Beatrice" from Tatted Doilies by Iris Niebach. The thread is Altin Basak #3004, size 50. I used one of my SewMate tatting shuttles.

One thing I learned from making this doily is the importance of having two balls of the same color when working on a larger project, at least for me. It's a pain to hide those extra threads!

This morning, I… Continue

Trinity

I've finished all three crosses for the liturgical stole my mom is weaving. I'm very pleased with the way they turned out. I made one Basic Cross and two of the Traditional Cross patterns from Tatting Patterns by Lyn Morton. I used Yarnplayer's "Golden Glow" size 20, and a different shuttle for each cross (a hand-carved wooden shuttle by Diana Andra, and 2 ceramic shuttles by Sherry Pence aka LadyShuttleMaker).

Hand-dyed thread and a basic tatted cross

It's been a long time coming, but I've finally finished a piece that I'm really proud of! My mom is making a liturgical stole for a friend of hers, and she asked me back in November if I would tat three crosses for her to use as embellishment on the stole. Late last night I finished the first one, which will cover the seam at the back neck edge of the stole. It's the Basic Cross from Lyn Morton's Tatting Patterns. I used Yarnplayer's "Golden Gl… Continue

Hey Diane, Thank you for making me a friend. I live east of the springs in a very small town called Ellicott. Dont blink its between mile marker 16.5 and 17. heh. But yes There are a few of us well hidden tatters around. I tried getting all of us together but as of yet no response. I figured we could all meet at a local restaurant and just spend the day tatting. :D Still Thank you for the add.
