Happy New Year!

Doing nothing on this blog for now, but just wanted to wish each and every one of you a Happy New Year! Sorry that I was to busy to take the time to wish each of you a Merry Christmas, but I hope you did have a good one.

Will return again after the new year and try to get busy again.
Hugs, Barbara

Christmas Tree

This is a picture of the tree that my lace group just finished for the Hospice house here in Kenosha, WI. I don't know how much was received yet from the selling of the raffle tickets, but I'm hoping it was good. We do the tree every other year and collected over $1,300 for the last three trees. With everything being so tight right now, I just don't know yet if we did as good, but I hope so.

New Shuttle #??

Sunflower Seed Husks.

Yes, that is what this shuttle is made out of along with resin to hold it together and then compacted at really high pressure and yes, it has a very smooth surface. At the end it has a small piece of Mammoth Ivory which is over 10,000 years old that gives it a very nice look. I am now loosing track of how many I have, but something about this one really intrigued me. I love to eat them, but never thought they could be used for something like this to. This was… Continue

20 TATTED MOTIFS by Rosemarie Peel - My Latest Tatting Project!

When I first received this book which I purchased from eBay, I wasn't to happy with it, but to my surprise it has turned out to be a fun book and the start of my next project. I am going to start making items from the book to show and also add to my 25 Motif Challenge. I will include some of the phots here for you to see. My finished project will not be seen of coarse until I get all of the pieces done. As you can see already, each piece is sometimes used more than once. However, I will only be… Continue

Two More Leaves!!!!

I have been going a little crazy with leaves lately, but I did these two using HDT in size 20 which I got from Marilee at Yarnplayer.com. I also did the stems differently and I like them better to.

Hi Barbara,
I don't use a plastic loom for making clunies, now that I can do them quite quickly I think a loom would slow me down too much, which is a disadvantage when doing many clunies in a pattern! I used Mimi Dillman's instructions to learn how to do them. They are very clear with good photographs for each stage. Here is the link http://home.netcom.com/~ntrop/cluny/instruct.htm The rest is down to practice!
Good luck!

Hi Barbara
http://tatsaway-patterns.blogspot.com/ This is the pattern for the snowflake that Jon designed.

Try the King Tut.... It's fun to work with - nice feel to it, if a bit slender.... Cheers, Fox : )

Hi,Barbara-about my bookmark-The edge is made from two needles -each starting at consecutive picots...alternating.This wasn't from a book.I read a womans guide to needlework-from the turn of the century(last century)and it was very clear-tatting should never cross tatting.So-I thought-Why not? What if I crossed tatting on purpose?I tried a few different cross overs-and found I liked this one-glad you noticed. The Celtic Leaf pattern is by Ruth Perry and she has not released it yet the reason I have it is she was a teacher at a tatting conference that I went to.
